NEEAC Co-sponsors the New England Conference on Multicultural Education on October 21, 2009

The New England Equity Assistance Center (NEEAC) co-sponsored the 14th annual New England Conference on Multicultural Education. This half-day conference, titled "Using Culturally Responsive Teaching to Close the Achievement Gap: Theoretical Perspectives and Practical Applications," was held at the University of Hartford on October 21, 2009.

Jacqueline Jordan Irvine, professor of Urban Education at Emory University, provided the keynote address. Professor Irvine's specialization is multicultural education and urban teacher education. She has received numerous awards for her work in advancing social justice through educational research.

The keynote address was followed by a panel discussion and a question and answer session.
