To Request CEUs for attending the conference, submit an online request. The deadline for submitting a request is October 30th. When you see the ACES form on your screen, click "Enroll Now" at the top. If you do not have a password from ACES (required if you have previously registered for any ACES event), then you will need to register before completing the CEU form.
Improving engagement is now understood as critical for improving student achievement. NECME 2010 promoted an in-depth understanding of how achievement, engagement, and multicultural education are interconnected, as well as provided concrete strategies for educators to successfully engage students of all backgrounds.
Our keynote speaker was Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings, Kellner Family Professor of Urban Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and Faculty Affiliate in the Department of Educational Policy Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Ladson-Billings is the author of numerous critically acclaimed books, including The Dreamkeepers: Successful Teachers of African American Children and Crossing Over to Canaan: The Journey of New Teachers in Diverse Classrooms.

Mun Wah's expertise as a film-maker and facilitator of difficult diversity dialogues offers a unique opportunity for educators to reflect deeply on some rarely addressed causes of the "Achievement Gap."
